One Response to Best Beatles cover ever?
I feel privileged to hear this so soon after it was posted. Beautiful and unique — Jake Shimabukuro made his ukulele sound more musical than my Martin 0018. Felt like a meditation soul massage, going up and down my spine and senses.
Thanks for turning me & friends/family on to his music. I agree with including this recording
among best Beatles covers ever, and I have loved their music since 1964. Right on, Chris!
OH — MESSAGE FOR CHRIS CHARLESWORTH: I was given some historical early 60′s WHO and High Numbers memorabilia things that I would like to get to Pete Townshend & possibly use some for charity fund raising. They include:
1. A test pressing of the “Live at Leeds” LP with hand written labels;
2. Some working lyrics from TOMMY – parts of “See me feel me…” also hand written with some words crossed out (You can, I’m sure, verify Pete Townshend’s handwriting’s authenticity on this particular paper.);
3. A record label rejection letter to the band’s manager at the time, where the record company encourages him to bring back any new material from the band for them to hear.
4. A local (UK) Gigs Itinerary for the High Numbers, along with a note from a pyrotechnics rental agency threatening legal action if their equipment was not properly returned in a timely manner. (Maybe some of these dates’ info can help fill in some of the blanks you mention on the Who’s website’s History/Live Gigography page.)
Please email me at above email address, so I can get these things to Pete asap. I’d like to help the Haitian earthquake victims & also save a home from foreclosure. Thanks!
Sincerely…
BSL
