		<description>In about 1997, Gordon Brown found himself at a Teenage Fanclub gig (it was probably Tony &#039;Ugly Rumours&#039; Blair&#039;s night off); evidently well-prepped by his coolhunting staff, the then Chancellor remarked &quot;they sound a lot like Big Star&quot;.

I relayed this desperate attempt at retro hipsterdom to a staffer at Vox, where I was doing some subbing at the time.
