Tombstone Blues: My Funeral Tunes

Author:

Being of an occasionally morbid disposition I have planned those songs I wish to be played at my funeral:

Til I Die” – The Beach Boys

Asleep” – The Smiths

(It did occur to me to add Boney M’s “Rasputin” purely for drama…)

Anyhow: What are your tunes for your eternal internment?

my latest funeral tune is,strangely enough,Wedding Song by Club Kama Aina.Although a close second is CD I found lying around at my local venue-The Brook,Southampton. It’s the intro music for a Kate Bush tribute band called Hounds of Love and I swear that I could do a Richard Williams, write Eno on it and would be hailed a masterpiece in the next issue of The Word.
The problem with funerals is that my taste changes daily(which is why I hate best of lists) and I wouldn’t want people to judge me on my selection when there is sod all I can do about it.

As the flaming barge bearing my mortal remains is pushed out to the North Atlantic, or Southsea boating lake, whichever is cheaper, I hear the plaintive yelp of Johnny Cash singing ‘Ghost Riders in the Sky’.

  3. Jeremy Gluck says:

This bears great resemblance to my ideal funeral that would mimic the Vulcan warrior funeral of Star Trek in which the corpse is transported to Stovakor courtesy of a…flaming barge!

  4. Johnny Black says:

Alive Alone by Jules and The Polar Bears
The Whole Of The Moon – the Little Ceasar cover version.

Mind you, if I get cremated, I’d be tempted by Everybody’s Been Burned – The Byrds
