On another Updike subject, I read The Witches of Eastwick years after I&#039;d seen the movie and was - for once - amazed by how accurately the casting director stuck to Updike&#039;s description of the philanderer played by Jack Nicholson. The part could have been written for him.</description>

		<description>JU was also a quite brilliant short story writer. Like Leyla, I marked his death by reading one of his less celebrated volumes, the collection titled Trust Me. His facility for exactly finding the apt image and descriptors for the most fleeting impressions, perceptions and feelings is unmatched in my reading experience.</description>
